As a self-taught bipolar artist and a reluctant visionary, my creative energy is inextricably bound up with struggle to manage mood and energy and to understand the metaphysical nature of reality. I was once an Administrator.

Exploring the natural flow in the interconnected matrix of energy that is the Universe, I channel emotional and spiritual impulses while allowing my work to evolve organically through application of many layers of mixed-media.

I aim to capture the complex and intricate beauty of interaction between opposing forces.

Explorations in Permanence played with themes of mortality versus immortality and the inherent paradoxes of creation and destruction through the use of traditionally incompatible and generally unconventional materials.

Initially, I experimented with binding the wood of a demised childhood chokecherry tree into different metal wires, and then burning the branches. The results are mounted on naturalistic but abstract backgrounds on wood panel.

I continued to work with the idea of mortality through competition by working layers of oil and acrylic together and playing with how they consume and degrade one another to achieve an assortment of effects. This Accepting Impermanence series is now dry and stable.

In making peace with the transitory nature of all forms, my appreciation for natural diversity amidst patterned order grew exponentially. I have moved into a period of expressing creatively through traditional sacred spiritual geometric forms. My first series in this vein is Soul Blossoms, which will be posted for sale March 24th.
